Transaction Per Second (TPS) is a measure of the maximum number of transactions a network can process in seconds. This relates to the transaction speed of each network. The larger the TPS, the faster each transaction can be completed. Currently, Solana and ICP (Internet Computer) are blockchains that have a fairly large TPS compared to others, which is around 3,000 transactions per second.

Transactions per second can be used as a measure to evaluate the capability of a blockchain to process transactions. A large TPS is a must for a blockchain that wants to have an application ecosystem that is used by many people.

However, there are many factors that determine the transactions per second of a blockchain such as block time, transaction size, and block size. A blockchain can manipulate these three things to display a high TPS. In the end, high TPS needs to be proven directly with real situations when the network is congested.
